A Christian Reformed Church
The Oak Hills Church family belongs to the historic Christian church and
specifically to the Reformed family group called Christian Reformed.
We emphasize many of the basics in ministry other churches do:
1. Only the Bible reliably guides what we believe and how we act (2 Tim.3:16-17)
2. God saves by grace only through Jesus sacrifice on the cross. The good we
do is the result of our salvation, not its cause.
3. We can be saved only through faith in Jesus (John 3:16-18)
We also provide a Reformed flavor that gives a distinct perspective to
our relationships with God, with people, and with creation.
Our God Reigns
Because God is sovereign in all things, we have confident hope that he saves people
by his grace, accomplishing his purposes for his glory. This gives us confidence
to do our Lord's work in his world. Our sovereign God will provide for and sustain
us in good times and hard times as well.
Partners with God
Our Creator God graciously receives us into his family, granting us eternal life in
Jesus. We belong to God and, in Christ, live in partnership with him. The Bible
calls this relationship the covenant. God takes the initiative, giving us his Holy
Spirit so we can respond in faith and obedience. We celebrate our partnership in
baptism and the Lord's Supper. The Bible teaches God also includes our children
in the partnership, giving them the promise in Jesus. The Spirit alone gives them
faith to confess and accept their partnership with God made public in a profession
of faith. God graciously uses us as believers to bring the Good News of Jesus
everywhere.
Jesus is Lord
Jesus is Lord of all creation and by his Word and Spirit is redeeming his creation.
He lays his claim on our lives and uses us to make a difference for Christ in every
part of his Kingdom until the time he fully accomplishes his purpose in the return
of Jesus. We strive to live out our confession where God places us in joyful worship
and serving witness.
God Assures Us
God, by his faithfulness of his Word, assures us we belong to him and gives us
confident hope in eternal life. Our Father chooses us and rescues us in Christ, in
whom we are protected through the work of his Spirit. (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:12-17)
God With Us
Our Lord speaks to us through the faithful preaching and teaching of God's Word and
confirms that Word in baptism and the Lord's Supper. Jesus is present with us through
the Holy Spirit in our hearts. (John 14:15-18) God is glorified in us.
