When you watch Curtis with students, you will know right away that this guy is doing
exactly what God called him to do. Curtis loves to establish close-knit communities
of youth through building authentic relationships. He loves watching young people
flourish in an environment where they know they are loved unconditionally. He is
excited about working in a church that follows these same principles in its ministries
with people of all ages.
Born and raised in the Portland area, Curtis has been working in youth ministry since
1992, serving in Young Life and with several Presbyterian churches. Curtis earned his
B.S. in Secondary Education in 1994 and recently completed the Masters of Divinity
program at George Fox Seminary with a focus on team building and spiritual formation.
Curtis recently found and married the love of his life, Maureen. Maureen currently
works in public relations at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. Maureen is equally excited
to call Oak Hills her church home.
Apart from youth ministry. Curtis is a passionate Portland Trailblazers fan, and
he loves the hit television show, Malcolm in the Middle. He also loves golfing,
reading books on church history and listening to his HUGE cd library (now up to 630
since the marriage, and counting...). Curtis will never turn down an opportunity
to discuss movies and finds spiritual themes in seemingly unlikely places.
